The “Jimny death wobble” as it’s known on a lot of Suzuki forums means the steering wheel starts to shake violently at around 80 km\/h; this wobble doesn’t go away until speed is increased to over 90 km\/h, or is decreased under 60 km\/h. <\/p>\n

The cause was assumed to be a fault in the steering and\/or suspension elements, which caused the entire system to go into a resonant state, causing this “Jimny death wobble”. Some have installed a steering wheel damper, which didn’t actually fix the problem; it just masked it. <\/p>\n

Others were saying the wheels just need to be balanced properly. Indeed, this can be a cause of steering wobble: the factory wheels (non-alloy) do not have the center hole properly aligned. Therefore, the proper way to balance them is to mount them on the 5 studs, and NOT the center hole. I can confirm this is true, and most tire balancing shops don’t bother to do it, as it’s a lot of work (and if the owner doesn’t know and doesn’t ask this specifically …).<\/p>\n
